Pick a difficulty that fits the room

The free scramble uses Standard difficulty. In the complete set, Easy changes fewer letters and gives a first-letter hint. Challenging mixes the letters more thoroughly. Preview the sheet before printing, especially if guests will be solving it between conversations.

A larger group doesn't automatically need a harder puzzle. Think about how much time you'll give people and whether children or guests with different reading abilities will join. Let anyone pair up if they prefer.

Set the timing and scoring

Try a three-minute round as a starting point, then adjust it after solving the sheet yourself. Announce the time before handing out pencils. For a relaxed table activity, skip the clock and leave the answers with the host until guests are ready.

Count one point for each correct answer. Say how you'll handle spelling and ties before play begins. If someone finishes early, check the whole sheet rather than taking their word for it; one skipped line can change the result.

Print the puzzle and its matching answers

Everyone can use a copy of the same scramble. The matching key belongs in the host stack, not between guest sheets. The printing guide explains how to use one or two cards per page without changing the finished card size.

The complete set also lets you edit the word list. Use recognizable words and check the generated key before downloading. If you change words, difficulty or the shuffle after printing, download the new PDF so you don't bring answers for a different puzzle.

Make your word scramble

Make a free word scramble and keep the matching answer key with the host.
