Choose a puzzle that can stand on its own
Word search and word scramble work from the sheet itself. Guests can solve them at a table, in pairs or during a short group round. Keep one answer key with the host and print copies of the same puzzle for players.
Word search suits a drop-in activity because guests can stop and come back. A scramble is useful when you want a clear start and finish. Our word scramble rules explain scoring and hints if you decide to offer a prize.
Add a keepsake if the parents want one
Advice cards let guests write encouragement or a family wish without standing up to speak. Prediction cards offer a few playful guesses and space for a wish. Ask the parents which they'd enjoy keeping, rather than assuming both are needed.
Leave an envelope beside the cards. You don't have to read them aloud or score them. If guests are moving between tables, a single writing station may be easier than placing a card at every seat.
Skip the activity that depends on presents
Gift bingo uses the opened gifts as its calls. Without gift opening, there is nothing for guests to mark against, so choose another game rather than handing out those cards and improvising rules.
A diaper raffle can still work if guests bring diapers and you collect named tickets, but it needs its own invitation wording and prize. Use the raffle guide to plan that separately. You can then build the rest of the shower around food, conversation and the activities you've actually chosen.
